izap_videos is a fully featured videos plugin for elgg. It can handle on-server and off-server videos.

System requirements(we tested on):

  1. *nix/windows based system.
  2. Elgg platform (1.5.1, 1.6.2, 1.7.1)
  3. FFMPEG installed on your system.
  4. CURL must be compiled with your php

Detailed installation instructions:Suppose you want to set up izap_videos for 200MB videos, follow these step-by-step instructions to increase your chances of installation success:

  1. Set up elgg (1.5.1, 1.6.2, 1.7.1)
  2. Download this pugin and place it in mod directory. Go to "Tool Administration" and enable izap_videos plugin.
  3. Now this plugin is ready for "Off-server" videos. Go to "Administration > Video Settings." You will see "On-server" is disabled by default. If your server does not have pdo_sqlite driver support then you won't be able to enable the "on-server" feature and will get a warning message in red.
  4. Suppose you have pdo_sqlite driver support. Enable it and go to "Server Analysis" tab and you will see everything is green.
  5. If anything is in red then it is a required action. You can change php interpreter path and ffmpeg path from the "settings" tab.
  6. Now, let's set it up for 200MB videos. Click on the "Settings" tab and chanbe "Enter max file size (in MB)" to 200.
  7. Now edit ".htaccess" file. You can find it in the root path of your elgg installation. Find "php_value", where you will be redirected to the section we need to update. Set the following values: php_value memory_limit 200M php_value register_globals 0 php_value post_max_size 200M php_value upload_max_filesize 200M php_value display_errors 0 php_value max_execution_time 0 php_value max_input_time 0
  8. Go to "Server Analysis" tab to see the corresponding changes in value for all the above parameters.
  9. Congratulations, we are done! Everything is working perfectly for me. I just uploaded 146MB video and the queue is working to encode it to .flv.
